Hi there!
My name is Sidrah Khan.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor. I use she/they pronouns. I’m based in Austin, Texas, where I grew up. I am an anti-capitalist, anti-patriarchy, decolonizing counselor. I recognize the systems of oppression that maintain the status quo and directly impact mental health. Justice minded counseling is just one way I work towards creating radical change for all.

How it all started?
Resting and Rising
When I was in high school, I took AP Psychology and immediately fell in love. Even though I didn’t do super well on the AP test (cue burned out gifted kid), I decided to major in Psychology at UT Austin for undergrad. During my final year, I took a Counseling Theories class, and continued to fall further in love. I minored in Education and enjoyed classes about play and early childhood development.
I started my master’s in Professional Counseling at Texas State University knowing that the program had a Play Therapy concentration. That become my focus for a little while. I spent a year and a half at the doctoral program in Counseling at UNT, with a focus on Play therapy, before leaving the program to return to Austin and focus on my clinical work.
So here we are. After a few years of working for other folks, I decided to start my own practice.
Though school was a big part of my life, rest has always been a priority too. I’m big on naps, and I highly encourage everyone to learn about what types of rest you need. Rest is the basic form of taking care of yourself. Rest (and self-exploration) is the necessary first step to changing the world.
The second step is to rise. You do have to get out of bed at some point. I’m not a huge fan of that part myself, but there are reasons to do it. Rising feels like showing empathy towards others, advocating, and engaging in your community.
That’s it. Rest and take care of yourself. Rise and take care of others.
